The scientific research of BEZHIN ROSKO concentrates on the biology of brown algae, particularly Ectocarpus, investigating their life history, ecology and taxonomy. BEZHIN ROSKO also contributes to the research at the Station Biologique de Roscoff where Akira Peters worked until December 2006. Our general approach is to study the living alga and due to 35 years of practice (see the curriculum vitae of Akira Peters and his scientific publications) BEZHIN ROSKO has some expertise in the isolation and laboratory-scale cultivation of seaweeds. Bezhin Rosko has participated in scientific projects such as Bi-Cycle (ANR-France), IDEALG (ANR-France), Brown algal biodiversity and ecology in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea (TOTAL foundation), ALFF (EU-ITN), SEXSEA (EU-ERC).
To the right a photography of an individual of Ectocarpus siliculosus which was collected in June 2004 in a tide-pool off Perharidy. It was growing on a green alga of the genus Ulva of which a piece is visible. The diameter of this Ectocarpus was about 8 cm.
